SANDUNGA
An editorial system rooted in identity.
Located in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in southern Oaxaca, Sandunga was conceived as an informational gazette designed to reflect the region’s vibrant culture, color, and strong sense of community through a structured and intuitive editorial system.
Inspired by the rich chromatic language of the Isthmus, the layout introduces a modular grid where each section is color-coded and reinforced through documentary-style photography. This visual system enhances navigation, improves content scanning, and creates a seamless reading flow.
Built on solid editorial principles — clear hierarchy, typographic rhythm, consistent margins, and balanced white space — the design ensures accessibility and readability across formats. Headlines bring expressive character, while body copy is optimized for long-form legibility through controlled leading and proportional scaling.
Photography functions as a narrative anchor rather than decoration, grounding each section in the social and cultural reality of the region.
The result is more than a publication — it is a structured storytelling platform that informs with clarity and represents with pride.
